                                          Legal Assistant - Remote

 

The Delta Company is a staffing company specializing in the healthcare sector. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will assist with contract review, litigation management, state licensing, state reporting, insurance management, and general legal and administrative tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to support legal operations and gain exposure to various areas of law in a dynamic environment. 
Compensation Range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually based on experience.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Review and Management:
    • Assist in the review, drafting, and management of contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
    • Organize and maintain contracts and related documents, ensuring they are easily accessible for the legal team.
    • Track and manage contract deadlines and renewal dates.
  2. Litigation Support:
    • Provide administrative support for litigation matters, including organizing case files and preparing documents for court filings.
    • Communicate with external counsel and assist with the coordination of legal documentation and evidence.
    • Maintain and update litigation tracking systems, ensuring all deadlines are met and case status are current.
  3. State Licensing and Compliance:
    • Assist with obtaining and maintaining required state licenses for business operations.
    • Track license renewals and reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate state filings, including renewals and updates to maintain compliance with state regulations.
    • Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to stay current on any changes to state laws that impact business operations.
  4. State Reporting:
    • Manage and prepare required state reports and filings to ensure the organization is compliant with relevant state regulations.
    • Track reporting deadlines and ensure that filings are completed accurately and on time.
  5. Insurance Management:
    • Communicate with third party insurance affiliates regarding claim filing and claim updates.
    • Assist with claim management and insurance policy renewals.
  • Request and provide certificates of insurance as needed by business partners.
  1. General Legal and Administrative Assistance:
    • Provide administrative support to the legal department, including scheduling meetings, preparing documents, and managing correspondence.
    • Assist monitoring group inboxes and responding to emails.
    • Assist in legal research as required to support ongoing cases or projects.
    • Manage legal files, maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • Coordinate the legal department’s workflow and assist with any additional tasks assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (preferably in a legal or business-related field).
  • At least one to three years (1-3) experience in an in-house legal department or a legal assistant role preferred.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare staffing industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Solid understanding of contractual terms and provisions is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in document review and data entry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and external parties.
  • Knowledge of state licensing and compliance requirements is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote working environment.
  • Ability to use a high degree of discretion and discernment to help resolve legal matters.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds of legal documents and office supplies.
