The Collections Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing the collections process for client accounts, ensuring timely recovery of outstanding balances while maintaining positive client relationships. This role requires strong knowledge of collection practices, as well as the ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

Job Functions of our Collections Specialist:

  • Manage day-to-day collections activities for client accounts, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding invoices.
  • Prepare and reconcile cash receipts and live checks, guaranteeing accurate payment application and reporting.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce days sales outstanding (DSO) and improve cash flow.
  • Analyze accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve billing disputes and ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Monitor and enforce payment terms in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Collaborate with billing, sales, and account management teams to streamline revenue cycle processes.
  • Identify trends and escalate issues related to non-payment, denials, or discrepancies.

Qualifications

What we look for:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in collections, preferably in the healthcare staffing or healthcare services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare billing, AR, and collections best practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office (especially Excel); experience with ERP or billing platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VMS platforms (e.g., ShiftWise, Kronos, Medefis).
  • Knowledge of healthcare staffing contracts, timekeeping, and credentialing processes.
